Welcome from South PTO President
"Our school is fortunate to have many dedicated parents and teachers who help to provide special events and programs that make the school year exciting and diverse in experiences for our children."
Welcome! My name is Helen Bias and it is with great pleasure that I take this moment to introduce myself to all of you as South Elementary School's PTO President.
If this is your first year at South Elementary, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to each of you. If you are a "seasoned" South Elementary family, I know you are as excited as we are to be starting the school year up again.
As a parent of two children currently attending and one child that had graduated from this great school, I cannot stress enough the importance of becoming involved in your child's education by volunteering time both in and out of the classroom. It is a great way to get to know other parents and teachers. It is also a way to show your child how important their education is to you.
Our school is fortunate to have many dedicated parents and teachers who help to provide special events and programs that make the school year exciting and diverse in experiences for our children. Thanks to our volunteers our children have class parties, book fairs, field day, cultural enrichment programs, BOKS (morning exercise program), Winterfest and many more fun-filled activities.
The PTO has also worked hard to raise funds to make improvements within the school that are not covered in the school budget. In the past, we have raised money for new playground equipment and a soccer field, smart boards for each classroom, microphone amplification for classrooms and murals to be painted in the hallways.
I am confident that with the many kind, talented and hard working parents that make up our "village" we will continue to have a positive impact within our school.
